On Monday, we had the pleasure of celebrating the remarkable achievements of our Year 10 and Year 11 pupils who successfully completed their Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award. The event, held in the school hall, was a testament to the hard work, dedication, and perseverance of our pupils.

The evening began with a warm welcome from Mrs Cauchi, Humanities teacher and Duke of Edinburgh Leader, who expressed her pride in the pupils’ accomplishments. Parents and guardians were invited to join the celebration, making it a truly special occasion for everyone involved.

After explaining briefly how the Award is achieved, Mrs Cauchi encouraged the pupils to consider pursuing the Silver award at Priory, challenging them to take their achievements to the next level. A representative from the Duke of Edinburgh, Dan McArthur-Greenall, delivered a short speech, highlighting the rarity of having such a large number of successful participants in a single cohort. He praised their dedication and spoke about the numerous opportunities that the program offers including becoming a DofE Young Leader. He also mentioned that those who go on to achieve the Gold award receive an invitation to the Palace, adding an extra incentive for the pupils to aim higher!

During the event, Principal Mr Eastham presented the official awards to the 58 successful pupils. It was a proud moment as each stepped up on to the stage to receive their embossed certificate and bronze pin badge, marking the completion of a challenging yet rewarding journey. The audience was treated to a video montage showcasing the pupils’ expedition, which took place in June. This provided a glimpse into the various activities and challenges the pupils faced and overcame during their two-day expedition at Rivington.

The Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award requires students to complete three sections: volunteering, physical fitness, and learning a new skill. Our pupils excelled in all areas, demonstrating their commitment and resilience. Their efforts have not only earned them this prestigious award but have also contributed to their personal growth and development.

Mrs Cauchi said, "The celebration was a fitting conclusion to a year of hard work and dedication. It was heartening to see the pride and joy on the faces of the students and their families. We are incredibly proud of our students and look forward to seeing them continue to achieve great things in the future. They must wear those pin badges on their blazers with pride."

Congratulations to all our Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award recipients!
