Duke of Edinburgh Silver Go Rock Climbing
30 April 2025
Last week, our Silver DofE students travelled to Eskdale for a rock climbing day, giving them the perfect opportunity to bond as a group ahead of their summer expedition.
We were incredibly lucky with the weather, which made for a brilliant day out on the rock. Pupils developed key skills such as belaying, communication, trust, and supporting one another through each challenge. It was fantastic to see them encouraging their peers and growing in confidence with every climb.
DofE Leader and Humanities Teacher, Mrs Cauchi, said, “The walk up to the crag turned out to be a little more than Mrs Kursitis and I had anticipated, but the pupils powered on ahead, leaving us both trailing behind! Everyone had a great time and left the day with a real sense of achievement.”
To round off a brilliant day, the group stopped at McDonald’s on the way home - cue a very lively minibus for the final stretch of the journey!
