Monday marked an emotional milestone as our Year 11 pupils spent their final day together at Priory.

This year group’s journey has been unlike any other. They began their high school experience in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, transitioning from primary school during lockdown. Despite the challenges, they’ve shown remarkable resilience, determination, and growth - qualities that have defined their time with us far more than the circumstances they started in.

Following their morning Physics exam, the celebrations began in earnest at break time. Under glorious sunshine, pupils gathered in the Priory Gardens for the tradition of shirt-signing with laughter, sadness, and messages of friendship.

The day continued with a Celebration Assembly, led by Mr Eastham, Mrs Cowell, and Head of Year Mrs Bullock. Pupils were recognised for their achievements with a host of well-deserved certificates, awards, and trophies. The highlight of the assembly was a nostalgic farewell presentation, featuring photos from their early school days, shared memories, and reflections on what makes this year group so special. There were plenty of giggles - and a few cringes - as pupils looked back on their time at Priory.

To mark the occasion, every pupil received a small keepsake from Mrs Bullock, including a Class of 2025 keyring handmade by the Technology department, and a card with this inspiring message:

“As you close this chapter and step into the next, remember how far you’ve come and how much potential you hold. The future is bright, and so are you – so keep dreaming big, working hard, and most importantly, keep shining your unique light wherever you go. Wishing you all the luck, laughter and success in the world. You’ve got this!”

The pride and emotion were shared by families too. Parents expressed their admiration on our social media:

“To think they started high school in the middle of the Covid-19 era and yet, here they are finishing strong, not defined by how it all began, but by the determination, growth, and positivity they’ve shown along the way.”

“Started in lockdown and gone from strength to strength. Well done all – enjoy your well-deserved summer break.”

While some pupils returned for final exams later in the week, we look forward to welcoming everyone back in school on 21 August for their GCSE results, and of course, celebrating in style at the Prom on 25 June.

We wish all our Year 11 pupils the very best in their future endeavours, and extend our heartfelt thanks to parents and guardians for their unwavering support throughout the years.

Now, with wings ready to soar, our pupils leave Priory to follow their dreams - wherever those paths may lead.

Enjoy the summer, everyone!
