Image of Year 7 Serve Up Success in Their First Practical Cookery Lesson

This week Year 7 pupils stepped into the kitchen for their very first practical Food Technology lesson.

Under the guidance of Mrs Lockwood, the class focused on mastering essential knife skills while learning about basic culinary techniques and kitchen safety.

The pupils prepared a colourful Couscous Jewelled Salad, carefully chopping and combining a variety of fresh vegetables. Their enthusiasm was evident, and their attention to safe working practices was impressive.

Mrs Lockwood said, “I’ve been really impressed by the level of enthusiasm from our new Year 7s. They approached the lesson with confidence and demonstrated excellent safety awareness. It’s wonderful to see them so engaged and eager to learn.”

Looking ahead, the class will progress to more complex dishes as they learn how to safely use the oven and hob, with Chinese Stir Fry next on the menu.
