Priory's physicist of the year
25 June 2018
Penwortham Priory student Emina has won her first award for physics – and hopes to win many more!
Year 10 student Emina was presented with the Priory award at UCLAN last week.
“We all had to write a letter about why we deserve the physics award at the start of the year,” said Emina.
“I got nominated from Priory and then was presented with my award at UCLAN by the Ogden Trust. We also listened to talks and it was really inspirational – it’s what I want to do in the future.
“I love physics, it explains the unseen and looks at how the world works and I find this interesting. I would like to study astro-physics in the future.”
Science Teacher and Assistant Headteacher, Ms Young said: “This is superb for Emina as it means she is a member of the Ogden Trust and it opens up the possibility of grants and internships which could help her in the future.”
The Ogden Trust aims to increase the uptake of physics for all at post-16, particularly for those from under-represented groups. The Trust supports schools, projects and programmes that are committed to enhancing physics teaching and learning.
