Year 9 football team bag the double!

Penwortham Priory Academy’s Year 9 football team are double winners.

The team has won the South Ribble Schools League and overcame Balshaw’s 4-2 in the South Ribble Cup final at Vernon’s to clinch the double.

Jake scored two in the final – he has scored 18 goals this season – while James and Cieran chipped in with the others. Jack is captain of the side.

The team last won the cup as Year 7s.

“They have shown great team-work and commitment,” said PE and English teacher Mr Faulkner. 

With the district team manager in attendance, a number of players will be invited to trials to represent South Ribble next season.
