Over the Easter break, we we received confirmation that the school and one our pupils have been shortlisted for the South Ribble Sports Awards.

The school has been shortlisted for the Secondary School of the Year category and Year 10 pupil, Libby, has been shortlisted as ‘Rising Star’.

The awards are organised by South Ribble Borough Council in association with South Ribble Community Leisure Trust and recognise sports personnel in the borough, whether they compete locally, or have the potential to be the next generation of Olympic athletes.  The awards also pay tribute to those who have shown their dedication to support individuals or clubs for the love of sport.

Synchronised swimmer Libby has earned an England Age Group call-up and has competed in the World Championships for her sport.  Late last year she won four gold medals in the North West Championships for the second year running and is now part of the England Age Group Squad.

Head of PE, Mr Bullock, has selected four Priory sporting champions to attend the event organiser’s photoshoot on 14 May at the council offices, along with Libby.  Letters will be going to those pupils next week.   The Awards take place at the Hallmark Leyland Hotel on 28 June.
