Priory’s Head of English, Mrs Gidden, has been really impressed with many of our multi-talented pupils lately and wanted to highlight their love of reading while excelling at other pursuits. This week we interviewed Year 9 pupil, Lexi

Lexi has just finished a book recommended by her mum - and she can’t wait to start the author’s most famous work.

Lexi read Cecelia Ahern’s ‘Where Rainbows End’ in a week and is now moving onto ‘PS I Love You’ which was made into a film, starring Hilary Swank and Gerard Butler.

“My mum had been reading ‘Where Rainbows End’ and recommended it to me,” said Lexi.

“It’s about a girl called Rosie and a boy called Alex who are best friends when they are younger, go away and marry other people and then meet up again and fall in love.

“Once I started the book, it only took me a week to read it!  I want to read ‘PS I Love You’ next, I haven’t seen the film and I don’t really want to as it will spoil the book and often films miss out the best bits.”

Lexi’s favourite books are JK Rowling’s Harry Potter novels.  “I have read them all many times!” she said.

Lexi’s favourite subject is English and she is full of praise for Mrs Gidden and Miss Thornton.  “They are so passionate about their subjects, they are amazing teachers. I struggle with my spelling but they are always there to help me.”

Lexi also plays rugby at school and wants to study psychology when she is older.
