Captain Lucas said he was ‘proud’ as Priory’s Year 7 football team won the South Ribble Cup for the 2023-24 season..

Lucas is at Blackburn Rovers Academy and was part of the team which overcame Hutton Grammar School 4-2 in an exciting final.

Priory went a goal down early before equalising through Tuson and then taking the lead through Robinson.

Hutton levelled to make it 2-2 at half-time.

Priory asserted their dominance in the second half with Robinson pulling the strings in centre-midfield but they were thwarted by some great defending and superb saves.

The chances continued and Whiteside grabbed a deserved brace for Priory to lift the cup.

Lucas said: “I was proud to lift the cup. I scored one goal from outside the area. We have a good team spirit.”

Goalkeeper Archie said: “It was great to win.”

Left-back Jude said: “It was a tough game but I made some good tackles so I was happy.”
