Last week the science department took 58 Year 8 pupils to Blackpool Zoo.

In Science, pupils are currently learning about the relationships between different organisms - this includes food chains, what happens when toxic materials enter a food chain, ecosystems and extinction.

As part of the visit, we attended an educational talk about food chains, in which the guide described the impact humans are having on ecosystems.  We got to see some interesting illegal items that had been discovered by customs, hold an elephant's tooth and a cockroach if we wanted to!

Lead Teacher of Biology, Mrs Massey, said, "The pupils were a credit to the school and we had such an enjoyable day discovering more about the animals. Well done Year 8."
