From Grassroots to Glory:  Year 8 pupil’s success  with Blackburn Rovers 

Central midfielder Lucas is enjoying trophy success with Blackburn Rovers.

Year 8 Lucas has been with Rovers since Under 11s, having been scouted playing in grassroots football.

Lucas was part of the Year 7 Priory team which won the South Ribble Cup last year.

Blackburn Rovers is a Cat 1 Academy, the highest, and competed in the U13s Premier League Shield recently.  They overcame Liverpool in the quarter-finals, with Lucas as captain, and travelled to Tottenham Hotspur for the final where they won 3-2.

“My dream is to be a professional footballer,” said Lucas, who is a Preston North End fan and also likes Liverpool. 

“It’s all been positive at Blackburn so far. It was good to win a trophy.

“We train four times a week and I have a two-year contract. I obviously need to try and get a scholarship when I am 16.”
