REPORTS BY MISS BEESLEY, GIRLS PE TEACHER
Year 8 Football Lancashire Cup Round 1
The Year 8 girls made their way to Leyland St Mary’s for Round 1 of their Lancashire Cup campaign after their successful 2-0 win against Bishops Rawsthorne in the preliminary round.
Priory got off to a slower start this time, trying to find their rhythm. St Mary's were heavy on the attack and scoring mid-way into the first half. Our girls continued to fight to get the ball, with some attempts on goal with near misses. However St Mary's managed to seize an opportunity and scored once more making it 2-0 at half time.
A quick talk at half time and a change around allowed Priory to come back into the second half with a second wind. A third goal however was scored by St Mary's. This built a fire in the girls to not go down without a fight and soon after a goal was scored by Hollie L, then shortly after another one to make it 3-2. Despite our best efforts from excellent defence from Bella D and some fantastic tackles from Sandra B, a last second shot on target from Hollie which narrowly missed left Priory out of time to make it through.
To come from 3-0 down, the girls showed a great attitude and determination, however today was just not our day, resulting in our Lancashire Cup campaign coming to an end for this year.
