Third place triumph for Priory’s Year 10 scientists
30 March 2025
On 21 March, a group of intrepid Year 10 scientists took part in a science competition at Preston College.
The day started with a careers session on future science options, including BTECs and T-Levels, before pupils were put to the test with some scientific challenges.
The competition comprised of a science investigation where pupils used a range of scientific methods to find out if a victim of a crime could have had excess levels of a certain chemical in their blood.
In the afternoon, there was a science quiz which included questions on astronomy, much to the delight of two of the pupils in the team who are currently studying this as an additional GCSE!
At the end of the day the pupils came third and more importantly had a great insight into the world of further education. The college commented on the outstanding skills shown by the pupils throughout the day and the team should be very proud of themselves!
Assistant Head of Science, Mrs Potter, who accompanied the team of five said, “The competition provided a wonderful opportunity for our students to showcase their skills and enthusiasm for science. What was lovely about the day was seeing the confidence in our pupils whilst carrying out the science experiments. They were excellent ambassadors for Priory.”
Well done, Evie C, Freya Y, Grace P, Charlie McC and Jamal C.
