On Monday, Mrs Gidden kicked off the week of events by launching the Book Face quiz - who's hiding behind the book?  For a bit of fun, pupils were asked to look through the slide presentation and guess all the mystery readers.

Breaktime on Thursday had the most passionate of readers invited to 'The Great Break Book-A-Long' for a good old read in the library.

Then, at lunch, it was a quick dash down to the dining hall for a selection of Harry Potter-themed bites before the treasure hunt begun.

Learning for Life sessions got in on the act with a special World Book Day lesson based on adult illiteracy and celebs with literacy issues.

According to the National Literacy Trust, 16% of adults are considered to be ‘functionally illiterate’ in the United Kingdom. Literacy levels are falling among the younger generations and it is stated that 1 in 5 adults struggle to read and write.

Did you know... Tom Cruise was functionally illiterate until he was 30?

During Thursday's lessons, where time allowed, teachers encouraged 10 minutes of reading which included a short discussion on what they were reading too.

To end the day of all things books,  pupils were shown Roald Dahl's poem, 'Television', about TV versus Books.  Have a read for yourself:
