It's all for the love of music at Priory
21 February 2023
It's certainly music to the ears of Priory pupils when KTB Music visit school.
KTB Music are Priory's peripatetic music tutors who deliver one-to-one lessons in school four days a week.
Lessons are in 15 or 30 minute blocks and these can be for exam grades, to play in concerts or simply for pleasure.
Pupils can tickle the ivories with piano lessons, strum a guitar, bang the drums, develop their vocals with singing lessons or play a saxophone - all under the guidance of experienced tutors.
KTB Music's Mr Madill has been teaching pupils to play the piano and said: "Priory's pupils are talented, they have picked it up really quickly. Learning a musical instrument is important for memory, co-ordination, developing self-confidence and more and all the pupils who sign up to the lessons enjoy it.
"We have everything from beginners to experienced musicians here and they are a pleasure to teach."
Lead Teacher for Music at Priory, Mr Taylor added, "Learning a musical instrument and to sing gives our pupils an opportunity to express themselves, to be creative, to work hard at something and to persevere and shine. These experiences and achievements stay with them and can shape their future. They can move from the practice room to the stage and to the concert hall and at the same time be part of a £4 billion contribution to the UK economy."
