Year 10 head to the workshop for engineering qualification
24 April 2024
Our Year 10 Engineering students have been hard at work in the workshop this term producing their own desktop storage designs from leftover wood.
Practical skills in the workshop underpin the theory work for the Engineering qualification and give the students hands on experience of working with tools and implementing relevant health and safety legislation. This is demonstrated in our photos by Year 10 pupils, Reece R and Marvyn S, who are both working towards the NCFE Level 1 and Level 2 qualification in Engineering.
Students have also been studying the environmental impacts of materials in Engineering and the importance of choosing sustainable materials where possible. With that in mind, we would like to make a request for donations of wood and timber that the students can recycle in a future project.
Do we have any parents or family members who could donate spare offcuts of wood to school? We are planning to make bug houses in the Summer term therefore we are particularly interested in any donations of garden canes so we can design and make something similar to the picture opposite.
If you are able to help, please contact Mrs Lockwood via email e.lockwood@priory.lancs.sch.uk or to arrange drop off. Thank you in advance and we look forward to showing you our finished results!
